Brown County is located in the U.S. state of Indiana. The county was formed in 1836 and named after General Jacob Brown, a hero of the War of 1812. The county seat is Nashville. According to the U.S. Census Bureau of 2013, the county has a population of approximately 15,023 people. Brown County borders the following counties: Johnson County to the northeast; Bartholomew County to the east; Jackson County to the south; Monroe County to the west; and Morgan County to the northwest.
