Benton County is located in the U.S. state of Indiana. The county was formed in 1840 and named after Thomas H. Benton, a U.S. Senator from Missouri. The county seat is Fowler. According to the U.S. Census Bureau of 2013, the county has a population of approximately 8,767 people. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 406.51 square miles, of which 406.42 square miles is land and 0.09 square miles is water. Benton County borders the following counties: Iroquois County to the west, Vermilion County to the southwest, Newton and Jasper counties to the north, White and Tippecanoe counties to the east, and Warren County to the south.
