Daviess County is located in the U.S. state of Indiana. The county was formed in 1818 and named after Colonel Joseph Hamilton Daveiss, a hero of the Battle of Tippecanoe. The county seat is Washington According to the U.S. Census Bureau of 2013; the county has a population of approximately 32,407 people. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 436.87 square miles, of which 429.49 square miles is land and 7.39 square miles is water. Daviess County borders the following counties: Greene County to the north; Martin County to the east; Dubois County to the southeast; Pike County to the southwest; and Knox County to the west.
