Blackford County is located in the U.S. state of Indiana. The county was formed in 18438 and named after Judge Isaac Blackford, Speaker of the Indiana House of Representatives and Chief Justice of the Indiana Supreme Court. The county seat is Hartford City. According to the U.S. Census Bureau of 2013, the county has a population of approximately 12,481 people. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, Blackford County has a total area of 165.58 square miles, of which 165.08 square miles is land and 0.50 square miles is water. Blackford County borders the following counties: Fort Wayne to the south, Wells County to the north, Jay County to the east, and Grant County to the west. Blackford County has nine zip codes. Blackford County Clerk’s Office Information

The Clerk’s office handles all the cases for both the Circuit Court and Superior Court. The Clerk’s office collects all court costs, support payments, small claims and traffic tickets. The Clerk’s office issues marriage licenses, liquor licenses, and processes passport applications.
