Warren County, Illinois Overview

Warren County is located in the state of Illinois. The county was formed in 1825 and named after Dr. Joseph Warren. The county seat is Monmouth. As of 2013, the county has a population of 17726. The county has a total area of 543 square miles, 542 square miles of which is land, and 0.6 square miles is water. The county consists of 14 ZIP codes, with ZIP code 61462 recorded as the one with the largest population. Warren County borders the following counties: Mercer County, Illinois to the north; McDonough County, Illinois to the south; Knox County, Illinois to the east; Henderson County, Illinois to the west, and; Fulton County, Illinois to the southeast.

Warren County Clerk Information

The County Clerk and Recorder’s office has seven main roles:

    To request a certified vital record (birth, death or marriage), click on the link provided by the website, follow and complete the instructions on the VitalChek website. During the verification, if you can not be verified by answering the questions you may be required to upload a copy of your photo I.D. to the VitalChek webpage. Vital records can also be requested by mail.

    The public is welcome to come in to the Warren County Recorder’s office and search the property records and lien indexes. It is helpful to have an address of the property or the Section, Township and Range of the property. Warren County computer records are available as far back as 1985 at this time.     Court Clerk Information

    The Clerk’s primary function is to establish, maintain and keep a record of all traffic, civil and criminal cases filed and heard in Warren County and the official court seal. In addition, the Court Clerk serves as the administrative arm of the Court and is responsible for all financial duties relating to the Court system. All monies owed to the Court are collected and distributed by the Circuit Clerk.

    To request a criminal record search, either fax or write requesting the search of the full name (with the middle initial) and the date of birth.
