McLean County, Illinois

McLean County is located in the state of Illinois. The county was formed in 1830 out of Tazewell County and named after John McLean, United States Senator for Illinois, who died in 1830. Bloomington is the largest city in the county and also the county seat. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a population of approximately 169,572 people and a total area of 1,186 square miles, of which 2.9 square miles is water and 1,183 square miles is land. It is the largest county in Illinois by land area and third-largest by total area. McLean County borders the following counties: Woodford County to the northwest, Livingston County to the northeast, Ford County to the east, Champaign County to the southeast, Piatt County to the south, DeWitt County to the south, Logan County to the southwest, and Tazewell County to the west.

McLean County Clerk, Recorder Division, is responsible for recording and maintaining all records in the county.
