Henry County, Illinois Overview

Henry County is located in the state of Illinois. The county was formed in January 13, 1825 and named after Patrick Henry, Revolutionary War firebrand and champion of individual rights, to whom the slogan “give me liberty, or give me death” is attributed. The county seat is Cambridge. As of 2013, the county has a population of 49860. The county has a total area of 826 square miles, 823 square miles of which is land, and 2.7 square miles is water. The county consists of 22 ZIP codes, with ZIP code 61443 recorded as the one with the largest population. Henry County borders the following counties: Knox County, Illinois to the south; Bureau County, Illinois to the east; Mercer County, Illinois to the west; Whiteside County, Illinois to the northeast; Rock Island County, Illinois to the northwest, and; Stark County, Illinois to the southeast.

Henry County Clerk Information

The services of the County Clerk and Recorder vary from maintaining records of the County’s vital statistics and records including birth, death and marriage certificates and reporting those to the State, as required by law. Duties also include the processing of accounts payable and accounts receivable. The County Clerk is also the County Recorder for all land records in the county, and also the Election Authority administering the electoral process including voter registrations.
