Certified copies of birth, death, and marriage certificates can be requested from the County Clerk’s Office. Walk-ins can go to the office and bring with them checks payable to Hancock County Clerk. Money orders and cash are accepted. No debit cards or credit cards are accepted. Mail-in requests require checks and information depending on the requested record: for birth records, name at birth, date of birth, place of birth, father’s name, and mother’s maiden name. Death records require only the decedent’s name and date of death, while marriage certificates require the groom’s name and bride’s maiden name, as well as the date of ceremony.
