Clinton County is located in the state of Illinois. Named after DeWitt Clinton, the county was formed in 1824 and its county seat is Carlyle. The County Clerk and Recorder has a list of forms and applications available for download at their website. Certified copies of vital records, like the birth, death, and marriage certificates, can be obtained by submitting a Request for Certified Record form along with a copy of your driver’s license. Please make your check or money order payable to Clinton County Clerk. To obtain a marriage license, the couple must come to the office to answer license questions. A photo identification is required. Both parties must sign the license. You must get your license at least one day before your ceremony and be used within 60 days. The license is obtained in the county where the ceremony will take place.

Court Clerk Information
