Bond County, Illinois Overview

Bond County is a county located in the state of Illinois. The county was formed in 1817. Named after Shadrach Bond, who was then the delegate from the Illinois Territory to the United States Congress, and who thereupon became the first governor of Illinois, serving from 1818 to 1822., the county seat is Greenville and it has a population of 17470 as of 2013. The county has a total area of 383 square miles, with its land area encompassing 380 square miles, and its water area 2.5 square miles. Moreover, Bond County borders the following counties: Montgomery County, Illinois at north; Fayette County, Illinois at east; Clinton County, Illinois at south; Madison County, Illinois at west.
