Payette County, Idaho Overview

Payette County is located in the U.S. state of Idaho. The county was formed in 1917 and named after Francois Payette, a Canadian-born fur trader, and an early settler. The county seat is Payette. According to the U.S. Census Bureau of 2013, the county has a population of approximately 22,610 people. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 410 square miles, of which 407 square miles is land and 3.4 square miles is water. Payette County borders the following counties: Washington County to the north; Gem County to the east; Canyon County to the south; and Malheur County, Oregon to the west. Payette County has six zip codes. The zip codes are 83607, 83619, 83655, 97913, 83660, and 83661. The most populated zip code is 83661.

Payette County Clerk’s Office Information

The County Clerk has of Payette County five distinct positions: the Clerk of the District Court, the County Auditor, Recorder, the Clerk to the Board of County Commissioners and the Chief Elections Officer. The Clerk supports all clerical activities of the courts and is responsible for the processing and maintenance of all court case filings. The clerk’s office also provides in-court clerks who support judges in the commission of their duties. The Clerk is also responsible for the selection of jurors.

Another responsibility of the Clerk is recording the appropriations made to county agencies, the outstanding liabilities against these appropriations, and the expenditures made against the appropriations. The Clerk also provides indigent services to county residents. As the Recorder, the Clerk is responsible for recording, filing, indexing, and the preservation of recorded documents.

The recording fees are $10.00 for the first page and $3.00 for each additional page pertaining to that document for all documents except the ones listed below:

Reconveyances of trust deeds: $15.00
