Fremont County is located in the U.S. state of Idaho. The county was formed in 1893 and named after John C. Frémont, an explorer of the West. The county seat is Saint Anthony. According to the U.S. Census Bureau of 2013, the county has a population of approximately 12,927 people. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 1,896 square miles, of which 1,864 square miles is land and 32 square miles is water. Fremont County borders the following counties: Clark County to the west; Jefferson County to the southwest; Madison County to the south; Teton County to the south; Teton County, Wyoming to the east; Gallatin County, Montana to the north; Madison County, Montana to the north; and Beaverhead County, Montana to the northwest. The duties of the County Clerk is recording, indexing and filing land deeds, deeds of trust, mortgages, judgments, and all kinds of business transactions. The County Clerk also issues birth and death certificates, marriage licenses, and passports.
