Franklin County, Idaho Overview

Franklin County is located in the U.S. state of Idaho. The county was formed in 1913 and named after Franklin D. Richards, an early LDS Church apostle. The county seat is Preston. According to the U.S. Census Bureau of 2013, the county has a population of approximately 12,854 people. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 668 square miles, of which 664 square miles is land and 4.7 square miles is water. Franklin County borders the following counties: Oneida County to the west; Bannock County to the northwest; Caribou County to the north; Bear Lake County to the east; and Cache County, Utah to the south. Franklin County has two zip codes. The zip codes are 83237 and 83263.

Franklin County Clerk Office Information

The County Clerk of Franklin County is Budget Officer, Chief Elections Officer, Clerk to Commissioners, and the Clerk to District Court. The County Clerk is responsible for recording, indexing and filing land deeds, deeds of trust, mortgages, judgments, and all kinds of transactions affecting business and real estate within the County. The County Clerk issues birth and death certificates, marriage licenses, and handle passport elections. The County Clerk’s Office registers voters, administers all elections, and manages other elections matters. The County Clerk acts as the Clerk to the Board of Commissioners of Franklin County.
