Bonneville County, Idaho Overview

Bonneville County is located in the U.S. state of Idaho. The county was formed in 1911 and named after Benjamin Bonneville (1796–1878), a French-born officer in the U.S. Army, fur trapper, and explorer in the American West. The county seat is Idaho Falls. According to the U.S. Census Bureau of 2013, the county has a population of approximately 107,517 people. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 1,901 square miles, of which 1,866 square miles is land and 35 square miles is water. Bonneville County borders the following counties: Madison County to the north; Teton County to the north; Teton County, Wyoming to the northeast; Lincoln County, Wyoming to the southeast; Caribou County to the south; Bingham County to the west; and Jefferson County to the northwest. The recording fee is $10.00 for the first page, $3.00 for each additional page per document. The document must be the original, signed, notarized document. To request copies of recorded documents, individuals should come to the Clerk’s Office and make the request or mail a request. The request should specify the name of the documents that is to be inspected. Copies of the documents/records can be made. Copies are $1.00 per page; add $1.00 per document for certification. Large copies of plats and surveys are $5.00 each.
