Blaine County, Idaho Overview

Blaine County is located in the U.S. state of Idaho. The county was formed in 1885 and named after James G. Blaine, who was the former United States Secretary of State. The county seat is Hailey. According to the U.S. Census Bureau of 2013, the county has a population of approximately 21,329 people. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 2,661 square miles, of which 2,644 square miles is land and 17 square miles is water. Blaine County borders the following counties: Butte County to the northeast; Bingham County to the east; Power County to the southeast; Cassia County to the south; Minidoka County to the southwest; Lincoln County to the south; Camas County to the west; Elmore County to the northwest; and Custer County to the northwest. Blaine County Recorder and Clerk Office Information

The main duties of the Clerk’s office is recording and maintaining of documents relating to property, issuing marriage licenses, liquor licenses, birth and death certificates. The Blaine County Recorder and Clerk’s office has birth and death records that date back to 1911. The Clerk’s office provides information and processes applications for passports. The Clerk is also responsible for voter registration and conducting county elections. The Clerk also serves as the as Clerk of the Board of County Commissioners and takes minutes of all Commissioner Proceedings.
The County Clerk is also the Clerk of the District Court. The clerk ensures the Blaine County Judicial System runs effectively and efficiently. All kinds of court filings and proceedings in the County including civil and criminal cases, traffic citations are maintained in the office. The Deputy Clerks provide clerical support to multiple judges, certifies court records, prepare appeals, manage the jury system and provide public access to the judicial system.
