Bear Lake County is located in the U.S. state of Idaho. The county was formed in 1875 and named after the Bear Lake on the Utah-Idaho border. The county seat is Paris. According to the U.S. Census Bureau of 2013, the county has a population of approximately 5,943 people. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 1,049 square miles, of which 975 square miles is land and 75 square miles is water. Bear Lake County borders the following counties: Caribou County to the north; Lincoln County, Wyoming to the east; Rich County, Utah to the south; and Franklin County to the west. General duties of Bear Lake County Clerk office include the recording of land transactions, mortgages, liens, judgments, marriages, issue birth/death certificates, issues licenses (liquor licenses), conduct elections, voter registrations, record accounts payable, etc. The Recording fee for deeds is $15.00 and for deeds of trust or mortgages it is $45.00 for first 30 pages, then $3.00 for each additional page. For reconveyances and powers of attorney, the recording fee is $15.00 and $25.00 respectively. Recording fees for surveys is $5.00 per survey. Marriages license fee is $28.00. The recording fees for all other documents $10.00 first page, and $3.00 each additional page. Copies of recorded documents can be made. The fee is $1.00 per page and for copies of recorded surveys; it is $4.00 per survey page.
