Thomas County is located in the state of Georgia. Named after Jett Thomas, the county was formed in December 24, 1825 and its county seat is Thomasville. The county has a total population of 44,720, as of 2010, with its area spanning 552 square miles (land area being 545 square miles, while water area being 7.6 square miles). Thomas Clerk of Superior, State, and Juvenile Courts Information

Randa D. Wharton was born in Indiana. In 1986 her family moved to South Georgia. She graduated from Pelham High School. She attended Thomas County Technical Institute now Southern Regional Technical College where she graduated from the Micro Computer Specialist Program. She and her husband, Andrew Wharton, live here in Thomasville with their three children. The children attend the Thomas County school system. In 1999, Randa, started working with the Clerk of Thomas County Superior Courts office when David Hutchings, Jr. was the Clerk. After sixteen years of service under David Hutchings, Jr., he retired and Randa being his Chief Deputy Clerk became the Clerk to serve out the remainder of his term. She was elected Clerk of Thomas County Superior Court in the 2016 election.

She has been given two plaques by the Thomas County Commissioners for her loyal and dedicated service to Thomas County. One for 10 years and one for 15 years of service. She also was presented with a certificate and plaque for completing the Thomas County Chamber of Commerce Leadership Training Program in 2011. She has shown presentations about the Clerk of Superior Courts office for the Thomas County Citizens Academy and other organizations for the past couple of years. She is an active member with the Thomas County Kiwanis Club. She helps with other charitable organization in Thomas County such as; Keeping Thomas County Beautiful and the South Georgia Bloodmobile Drives for the Thomas County Judicial Center. She also is an active member and volunteer in the Gathering Church where her family attends.

Thomas Tax Assessor Information

The Thomas County Board of Assessors are responsible for the appraisal of all properties in Thomas County. Per Georgia Revenue Code section 48-5-7 all property shall be assessed at 40 percent of its fair market value and uniformity. The office is open to the public between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. The Board of Assessors meets on Tuesday & Thursday at 9:00 a.m. in the Board Conference Room. For your convenience, the tentative agendas are posted online. The meeting dates are subject to change.
