Paulding County, Georgia

Paulding County is located in the state of Georgia. It was created from Cherokee County on December 3, 1832, by an act of the Georgia General Assembly. It was named after John Paulding, who was famous for the capture of the British spy Major John André in 1780 during the American Revolution. According to a 2010 census done by the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a population of approximately 142,324 people and a total area of 314 square miles, of which 2.1 square miles is water and 312 square miles is land. Paulding County borders the following counties: Bartow County to the north, Cobb County to the east, Douglas County to the southeast, Carroll County to the south, Haralson County to the southwest, and Polk County to the west.

The office of the Clerk of Superior Court is charged with the responsibility of filing, recording, and retrieving the various types of public documents filed in Paulding County.
