To obtain public records in the county, you may use Open Records Request Form to access documents for inspection or obtain copies. The form is not mandatory when requesting routinely available records such as resolutions, ordinances, plats, minutes, and agendas. Despite the fact that when doing an open records request you are not required to submit a written request, the form will ensure that each request is fulfilled as accurately as possible.  When seeking information through an open records request, a written request may be submitted to one of the following departments: Police, Water Resources, Courts, Fire, Planning and Development.

For birth records and marriage records, you will be required to make your request by calling the Gwinnett County Probate Court at 770-822-8250. The Probate Court does not allow electronic requests. However, for divorce records, case documents, deeds, or property liens, you will have to contact the Clerk of Court. You can request the records by visiting the clerk’s office in person or mailing a written request; the Clerk of Court only accepts written requests.
