Forsyth County, Georgia

Forsyth County is located in the state of Georgia. The county was created on December 3, 1831, and named for John Forsyth, Secretary of State under Presidents Andrew Jackson and Martin Van Buren, and Governor of Georgia from 1827–1829. Cumming is the largest city in the county and also the county seat. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a population of approximately 175,511 people and a total area of 247 square miles, of which 23 square miles is water and 224 square miles is land.

Forsyth County Marriage License Office
In order to obtain a marriage license in Forsyth County, the applicants must apply together, in person, at the County Clerk’s office. Both parties must present their state-issued picture ID, military ID, or passport, and know their social security number
