Osceola County, Florida

Osceola County is located in the state of Florida; it was formed on May 12, 1887 and named after the Indian leader Osceola. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a population of approximately 268,685 people and a total area of 1,506 square miles, of which 178 square miles is water and 1,327 square miles is land. Its county seat is Kissimmee.

The Clerk of the Circuit Court of Osceola County is the official recorder of all documents that may, by law, be recorded in the county. Records maintained by the office include but are not limited to mortgages, satisfactions of mortgages, tax warrants, leases, agreements, notices of claims of liens, deeds, leases, and any instruments relating to ownership, transfer or encumbrance of real or personal property. Other responsibilities of the Osceola County Clerk are the issuance of passports, marriage licenses, collection and disbursement of court fines and assessments, and court ordered child support/alimony.

All documents maintained by the Clerk of the Circuit Court are available for public inspection, with the exception of mental health records, juvenile delinquency and dependency records, and any records ordered sealed by the Judge. To access these records, you can do a background check online or visit the clerk’s office in person during office hours. To do a public records search online, you will have to visit the Osceola County Clerk Website. The website has most of the records maintained by the clerk’s office; for records that cannot be accessed through the website, you will have to obtain them by visiting the county clerk’s office in person. While visiting the office, you will be required to submit a records request form. This form can be obtained from the clerk’s office or downloaded from the county website.
