Manatee County, Florida

Manatee County is located in the state of Florida. The county was formed on January 9, 1855 and named after the Florida manatee, which is endangered and Florida’s official marine mammal. Its county seat and largest city is Bradenton. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a population of approximately 322,833 people and a total area of 893 square miles, of which 150 square miles is water and 743 square miles is land. Manatee County borders the following counties: Hillsborough County to the north, Polk County to the northeast, Hardee County to the east, DeSoto County to the southeast, and Sarasota County to the south.
