Lee County, Florida
Lee County is located in the State of Florida; the county was formed on May 13, 1887 and named after Robert E. Lee, Confederate general in the American Civil War. The largest city in the county is Cape Coral, while the county seat is Fort Myers. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a population of approximately 618,754 people and a total area of 1,212 square miles, of which428 square miles is water and 785 square miles is land.
The Clerk of the Circuit Court is the official County Recorder and is responsible for maintaining the official records of Lee County. The Recording Office indexes and maintains archives of all the Official Records. The records maintained by the office date back to 1887. In addition to recording and maintaining public records, the Clerk’s Recording Office is also responsible for issuing marriage licenses, performing marriage ceremonies, and serving as an official passport acceptance agent for the State Department.
The Lee County Official Records are open to the public, and anyone can access them and obtain copies. In case you cannot supply the book or page of the instrument you are requesting, you may either locate that information in the alphabetical indexes by business name or name of owner, or you may pay a $2.00 per year, per name, fee for a search.

If you are requesting copies of deeds, you will have to present as much identifying information as possible, such as the legal description of the property, the name as it appears on the deed, or the book and page of the deed.
