Flagler County, Florida

Flagler County lies along the Atlantic Ocean on Florida’s east coast between St. Augustine and Daytona Beach. It was created in 1917 from parts of Saint Johns and Volusia Counties. It is the namesake of Henry Morrison Flagler, one of the founders of Standard Oil. The population of Flagler County was 95,696 as of the 2010 census. It covers an area of 571 square miles, with 15% of the area covered by water. The county seat is Bunnell.

As required by Florida Statute, the Recording Division of the Clerk of the Circuit Court’s Office maintains all documents recorded in the Official Record Books of Flagler County. The records maintained by the recording division include but are not limited to probate documents and other instruments relating to the transfer of ownership, encumbrance of or claims against real property, notices, tax warrants, final judgments, deed restrictions, agreements, claims of lien, deeds, mortgages, assignments, satisfactions, and subdivision plats. Other records that are maintained by the division include military service discharge, certain court records, declarations of domicile, and federal instruments. Furthermore, the recording division is also responsible for collecting state documentary and intangible taxes on certain documents such as mortgages and deeds.  

Copies of public records can be obtained in person (by written request) by visiting the recording division or by doing a background check online. To do a public records search online, you will have to visit the Flagler County Clerk Website. The website is informative with different records that can be obtained and the fee schedule applicable when requesting public records.

Public records can also be obtained in person by visiting the recording division of the Clerk of the Circuit Court’s office. However, you will need to have a records request form indicating the kind of records you are requesting. While filling out the form, remember to be precise since the fee payable is not refundable in case the records you requested cannot be found. Flagler County Marriage License Office
In order to obtain a marriage license in Flagler County, the applicants must apply together, in person, at the County Clerk’s office. Both parties must present their state-issued picture ID, military ID, or passport, and know their social security number
