Lake County is located in the U.S. state of Colorado. The county was formed in 1889 and named after the Twin Lakes in the county. The county seat is Leadville. According to the U.S. Census Bureau of 2013, the county has a population of approximately 7,306 people. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 384 square miles, of which 377 square miles is land and 7.0 square miles is water. It is the fourth-smallest county in Colorado by area. Lake County borders the following counties: Eagle County to the north; Summit County to the northeast; Park County to the east; Chaffee County to the south; and Pitkin County to the west. Lake County Clerk and Recorder Office Information

The County Clerk and Recorder is an elected position with a four-year term. The County Clerk and Recorder acts as the Clerk to the Board of County Commissioners. The County Clerk and Recorder also serves as an agent for the Secretary of State of Colorado for voter registration and administration of elections. The County Clerk and Recorder is also responsible for titling and registration of motor vehicles, marriage licenses, driver’s license, liquor licenses, recording deeds, and collecting sales taxes for the Colorado Department of Revenue.
