Gunnison County is located in the U.S. state of Colorado. The county was formed in 1877 and named after John Williams Gunnison, the U.S. Army captain who explored the region. The Gunnison County Clerk and Recorder is responsible for three departments in the Gunnison County, which are the Recording Department, Election Department, and Motor Vehicle Department.
