Summit County is located in the U.S. state of Colorado. The county was formed in 1861 and named after the many high mountain summits in the area. The county seat is Breckenridge. According to the U.S. Census Bureau of 2013, the county has a population of approximately 28,649 people. According to the U.S. Census Bureau of 2013, the county has a total area of 619 square miles, of which 608 square miles is land and 11 square miles is water. Summit County borders the following counties: Grand County to the north; Clear Creek County to the east; Park County to the southeast; Lake County to the southwest; and Eagle County to the west. Summit County Clerk and Recorder Office Information
The services provided by the Summit County Clerk and Recorder’s Office include, but are not limited to, issuing marriage licenses, civil union licenses, liquor licenses, motor vehicle registrations, titling of motor vehicles, issuing birth/death certificates, and recording documents. The County Clerk and Recorder also serves as a Clerk for the Board of Commissioners. The County Clerk is also the chief election official of the county and is responsible for voter registrations and administering all elections in the county including primary, general, and special district elections. The recording fee depends on the type of documents that will be recorded. For instance, for real estate and other standard documents, it is $13.00 for the first page and $5.00 for each additional page pertaining to the document. For mining documents i.e. affidavits of labor and location certificates, the recording fee is $8.00 for the first page and $5.00 for each additional page.
