Ventura County, located in southern California, lies on the coast of the Pacific Ocean. The county seat is Ventura, known as San Buenaventura before 1891 for the Spanish mission established there in 1782. The population is 823,318, and the area is 2,208. Many Hollywood movies have been partly filmed in Ventura County, including Back to the Future Part III, Erin Brockovich, The Aviator, Twilight Zone, and The Rock.
