Santa Clara County, located at the southern end of San Francisco Bay in California, is home to Silicon Valley, home to many high-tech companies, including Intel. The population is 1,781,642, and the county has an area of  1,304 square miles. San Jose, the county seat, is the tenth-most populous city in the U.S.

The Santa Clara County Clerk-Recorder’s Office records or files authorized documents and maps; registers all births, deaths, and public marriages; and collects transfer tax and other fees within Santa Clara County. In addition, the county Clerk-Recorder’s Office registers confidential marriages, issues marriage licenses, and performs marriage ceremonies. The office also performs services relating to filing of notary bonds, filing of fictitious business name statements, registration of professional agents and similar services. After being recorded, the records are made public for examination by interested parties.  Exact copies are issued upon request. Regina M. It is important to note that, unlike other public records, divorce records can only be obtained through the Superior Court website.
