Alpine County, officially the County of Alpine is a county located in the state of California. The county was formed in March 16, 1864. Named after its location in the Sierra Nevada resembling the (Swiss) Alps, the county seat is the Census Designated Place of Markleeville and it has a population of 1159 as of 2013. The county has a total area of 743 square miles, with its land area encompassing 738 square miles, and its water area 4.8 square miles. Moreover, Alpine County borders the following counties: Tuolumne County, CA to the south; Amador County, CA to the west; Douglas County, NV to the northeast; El Dorado County, CA to the northwest; Calaveras County, CA to the southwest, and; Mono County, CA to the southeast.

The Alpine County Clerk is the ex officio registrar of voters, ex officio clerk of the Board of Supervisors, commissioner of marriages, county parking agent and Local Agency Formation Commission executive officer. Services provided by the County Clerk’s Office include:
