Cross County, Arkansas Overview

Located in the state of Arkansas, Cross County has a population of about 17,870, according to the US Census Bureau. The county seat, and largest community is Wynne Cross County is Arkansas’s 53rd county, formed on 15 November 1862 and named for Confederate Colonel David C. Cross, a political leader in the area. The total square miles of the county are 622, 616 of that is land, and the remaining 5.9 square miles is water. The county is bordered by Poinsett County to the north, Crittenden County to the east, St. Francis County to the south, Woodruff county to the west and Jackson County to the northwest. Duties of the office in the capacity of Recorder include recording all deeds, mortgages, and conveyances of lands and buildings lying within the County, as well as maps and plats of newly laid out villages and all records from other counties concerning land sales or conveyance which affect title in the County.
