Calhoun County, Arkansas Overview
Located in the state of Arkansas, Calhoun County has a population of about 5,368, according to the US Census Bureau. The county seat is Hampton, and it is also the largest community. This 55th county of the state was established in 1850 and named for named for John C. Calhoun, a Vice President of the United States. The county has a total area of 632 square miles, most of which is land at 629 square miles and the remaining 3.8 is water. Calhoun County is bordered to the north by Dallas County, Cleveland County to the northeast, Bradley County to the east, Union County to the south and Ouachita County to the west. The county is part of the Camden, AR Micropolitan Statistical Area, and there are seven zip codes utilized by the county, 71744 is the largest.
