Pike County is located in the U.S. state of Alabama. The county was formed in 1821 and named after Zebulon Pike, an explorer, and an officer in War of 1812. The county seat is Troy. According to the U.S. Census Bureau of 2013, the county has a population of approximately 33,339 people. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 673 square miles, of which 672 square miles is land and 0.9 square miles is water. Pike County borders the following counties: Bullock County to the northeast; Barbour County to the east; Dale County to the southeast; Coffee County to the south; Crenshaw County to the west; and Montgomery County to the northwest. The responsibility of the Pike County Revenue Commissioner includes mapping, recording, appraising and assessing new and existing properties in the county, and collecting property taxes according to the assessments. Property taxes are due on October 1 and must be paid within or before December 31 to avoid late fees. You can pay your property taxes in cash by coming to the Revenue Commissioner’s Office in person.
